Converge wants Pampanga digitalized for 'Tech City'

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. urged business groups in Mexico, Pampanga to invest in digitalization to boost their respective growth, and prepare for the proposed "Tech City" in the town, which is a 200-hectare digital hub.

During investors’ night at the Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy shared the benefits of improving digital infrastructure in the Central Luzon region.

“It is estimated that digital technologies have the potential to create an annual economic value of P5 trillion or US$101.3 billion. But what’s important to note here is the fact that in order to achieve all these, we must have the correct infrastructure in place,” said Uy.

He said digitalization will enable groups to open opportunities to deliver electronic services or “e-services” and keep up with the latest digital innovations across all sectors.

As businesses in Pampanga push for better digital infrastructure, this will also help them integrate faster and join the operations of the “Tech City,” considered as the CEO’s “personal project.”

Tech City, to be built in the town of Mexico, will be a 200-hectare digital hub that aims to create an “entire ecosystem of innovation” by garnering the support of the world’s largest information technology (IT) companies.

The hub also seeks to employ and hone the best information and communications technology (ICT) workers in the country.

“The Tech City will host the largest data center in the region, corporate headquarters, housing facilities, and an events area. We hope that leading tech companies can make the Tech City its home in the Philippines,” said Uy.

As of June 2023, Converge’s 670,000-kilometer fiber broadband network infrastructure has serviced over 16 million homes in the Philippines.
