Prime Energy Resources Development B.V. has set a high standard for safety excellence in the energy industry.
The subsidiary of Enrique Razon’s Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. hit a milestone for its “Goal Zero” in over 22 years at the Malampaya Onshore Gas Plant (MOGP).
Goal Zero is an act that puts the safety against the risks of energy management and consumption. This would mean that the company has harmed zero employees, contractors, or visitors and made zero significant incidents.
Donnabel Cruz, Prime Energy managing director and general manager lauded the achievement that was achieved for more than two decades.
“[This achievement] underscores not only our dedication to these principles but also our responsibilities as an energy provider, assuring our stakeholders of our utmost commitment to excellence in all we do,” Cruz said.
According to the official, the instruments that helped them reach Goal Zero were the company’s commitment to safety leadership, open communication, and robust health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE).
In a statement, the strong HSSE foundation and continued implementation of safety practices of HSSE learnings became proof of their success.
The HSSE enforced towards their staff and contractor partners ensured that safety incidents were continuously reviewed, studied, and recognized in order to act upon systematic solutions.
Moreover, Prime Energy has an annual Safety Day wherein the company invites employees, partners, vendors, and more to reinforce their welfare standards.
Safety leaders across the sites would also conduct and participate in activities to share updates on incidents, issues, and concerns within the workforce.
The Safety Observation Cards (SOC) were implemented for the sake of plant visitors and employees.
The SOC would document potentially unsafe situations and actions to avoid disasters.
Because of this, Prime Energy staff can take proactive measures to minimize and avoid most, if not all, hazards especially when dealing with energy.
Workers at the Malampaya were also seen as empowered for being able to voice out safety concerns.
The Malampaya project pertains to a collaboration between the private sector and the national government, specifically under the Department of Energy (DOE).
Prime Energy also represents and is responsible for the joint venture partners Udenna Corp. and the Philippine National Oil Co.-Exploration Corp. (Gabriell Christel Galang)
