ICTSI best transport companies in PH – awarding bodies
The International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has been lauded as one of the most exemplary companies in the Philippines by various awarding bodies in the Asian region for its “financial performance, management team, investor relations, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.”
ICTSI was named as “the most outstanding company in the Philippines under the Transportation Sector category” in the 2022 Asia’s Outstanding Companies Poll by Asiamoney, voted by 1,200 fund managers, research analysts, and bankers in Asia.
The company was also recognized as the “Best Investor Relations Company” in the country and having “Asia’s Best CSR” by Hong Kong-based company Corporate Governance Asia at the 13th Asian Excellence Awards.
Notably, Enrique K. Razon Jr., ICTSI chair and president, was honored as “Asia’s Best CEO (Investor Relations),” Rafael D. Consing Jr., former senior vice president and chief financial officer, was hailed as “Asia’s Best CFO (Investor Relations)” and Arthur R. Tabuena, ICTSI treasury director and head of Investor Relations, was recognized as the “Best Investor Relations Professional.”
Institutional investment magazine Alpha Southeast Asia named the company “one of the best managed companies in the Philippines,” with three awards from the 13th Annual Institutional Investor Awards. Aside from having the “Best Strategic CSR” plan, it also won the “Best Annual Report” in the country.
ICTSI garnered a high ranking and won three Golden Arrows, scoring between 100 to 109 points, based on the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) for its “board responsibilities, disclosure and transparency, rights of shareholders, equitable treatment of shareholders, and role of stakeholders.”
Asian media platforms Cxociety and FutureCFO also cited ICTSI’s “accelerated digitization agenda during the pandemic and the implementation of a global cash pool program in 2023 to support its capital expenditure and deleveraging programs” in the FutureCFO Excellence Awards.
“Amidst an ever-evolving regulatory environment, these recognitions affirm that we are on the right track in ensuring ICTSI’s Group-wide commitment to sound, prudent and effective management – the bedrock of business sustainability,” said Christian R. Gonzalez, executive vice president, compliance officer and chief sustainability officer of ICTSI.
“Our continuing adherence to good corporate governance, in turn, fulfills our vision to build long-term stakeholder and shareholder value,” Gonzales added.
ICTSI said it will announce its decarbonization targets for scopes 1 and 2 by the end of the year, following the carbon neutral certifications received by its four largest operations in the South American region (Contecon Guayaquil in Ecuador, Contecon Manzanillo in Mexico, and Tecon Suape and Rio Brasil Terminal in Brazil).
