Ica Frias, an up-and-coming talent in OPM, released her latest single, "Oh Honey," last Oct. 6. She captivates music enthusiasts with her latest single, "Oh Honey," as she fearlessly delves into the heart-pounding journey of falling for the wrong person and the fears that come with it. “Oh, Honey” gives us that bop that masquerades the anxieties of falling for somebody who might hurt you. 

When asked about the song, Ica explains that she “...wanted to make an anthem for people who get easily blinded when falling in love.” 

“I usually play random chord progressions with my guitar and just embrace the words that are naturally coming out of my mouth. Only then was I able to come up with writing a song with the concept of falling in love with the wrong person. 

"This is countered by the upbeat vibe of the song, almost as if you’re making fun of yourself for seeing that person with rose-colored glasses. 

"We dug deeper and asked what inspired her to write this song, and she explained how this is all about the “ick” of falling in love with someone who’s just playing with your feelings," Ica said.

Produced by Ricky Ilacad of Off The Record, this new single differs from Ica Frias’ usual heartbreak songs. “Oh Honey” masterfully combines an irresistibly boppy melody with poignant, introspective lyrics. With an upbeat tempo and catchy hooks, it's impossible not to tap your feet and nod your head to the rhythm. Yet, beneath the infectious sound lies a lyrical journey through the depths of sadness and longing.

“Oh Honey” paves the way for a newly minted partnership between Off The Record and Sony Music Entertainment (SME) as they enter October with SME as their new aggregator. Since signing with Off The Record at the beginning of this year, she has released four singles on all major streaming platforms and a series of cover songs on YouTube and Spotify. She debuted with the single “Ayoko Na,” which instantly reached heights when it hit Spotify’s Viral 50 and became the cover of Spotify’s Fresh Finds Philippines playlist. Her last two singles were also included in Spotify’s Fresh Finds Playlist, and New Music Friday Philippines was playlisted in EQUAL Philippines and OPM Rising.

Ica Frias started this year on a good note, releasing music relentlessly and performing on live shows, performances, and different radio guestings. She has garnered invitations to various esteemed music events and productions like Wishbus, Myx, UP Fair, Tropang LOL, Pawssion Project’s Pawchella, and many others. Supported by her label Off The Record and now with Sony Music Entertainment as an aggregator, Ica Frias surprises us with beautiful music and anthems we can have as everyday music.
