DPWH completes P44.1-M all-weather road project in Dinagat Islands
BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported the completion of a P44.1-million all-weather community access road project in Loreto, Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI).
“This completed community access road project will surely boost the island’s agricultural community town in that province,” DPWH-13 (Caraga) Director Engr. Pol M. delos Santos said on Friday, October 13.
This project was part of the “Build, Build, More” program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. which seeks to achieve a golden age of infrastructure in the country to enhance mobility and connectivity as well as spur economic growth, Delos Santos added.
In his progress report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Delos Santos said the project was thoroughly implemented by DPWH-Dinagat Islands District Engineering Office District Engineer (DE) Noel C. Basañes.
It is a two-lane concrete road with line canal to improve access between Barangay Santa Cruz and Sitio Cambinliw in Loreto.
Delos Santos said with the completion of the project, the entire Santa Cruz-Cambinliw (Lauban-Mini Hydro) Road stretching 3.65 kilometers, with spillway, box culvert, slope protection, and line canal, is now accessible to all types of vehicles even during heavy rain.
“Our island-farmers and local business folks can now move with the completion of this project, round-the-clock,” he said.
Basañes also said all agricultural goods in Dinagat can now move in all types of weather.
“The benefits of the new road include facilitating the delivery of agricultural goods and providing locals access to other essential services available in the town proper, especially to our farmers and local businesses.”
