2 dead in van-truck collision

CALAUAG, Quezon – Two persons were killed in a collision between a passenger van and a wing van truck on the Maharlika Highway here on Saturday morning, October 14.

Police identified the fatalities as Sajad Murajie, 40, of Tinambac, Camarines Sur, driver of the van, and his passenger, Danny Cruz, 60, a resident of Manila.

Investigation said Murajie lost control of the van with license plates DAC-9091 and collided with the truck with license plates CBQ-9632 driven by Robert Segador, 35, of General Trias, Cavite.

Police Major Jernie Junne Merka, Calauag police chief, said Segador and a van passenger, Sunshine Bandin, 32, of Barangay Antipolo, Tinambac, sustained injuries.

Murajie was pinned in the driver's seat and died on the spot. Cruz was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Segador was taken to the hospital and is now in the custody of the police for further investigation.
