In a Facebook post on Sunday, Oct. 15, the official shared her experience of hiking to the Osmeña Peak, believed to be the most famous viewpoint in the island.
Nakasama ko ang ating mga kababayan sa isang kakaibang adventure — ang '2 peaks in one day' hiking challenge (Just recently, I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful town of Dalaguete, Cebu to support local tourism. I was with our countrymen in a one of a kind adventure—the '2 peaks in one day' hiking challenge),” she wrote.
Duterte shared about how she hiked to the top of the Osmeña Peak, which was named after former president Sergio Osmeña Sr. since he personally hiked the mountain when he visited Dalaguete.
Mahalagang magsuot ng tamang sapatos o tsinelas para sa ganitong paglalakbay (The hike lasts for 45 minutes in a rocky but it’s a unique terrain. It’s important to wear the right shoes or slippers in this kind of hike),” she added.
The Vice President shared photos of her adventure, where she was seen wearing a long-sleeved green shirt, pants, and hiking boots. She also had a bull cap on and a backpack.
According to Duterte, she and her guides even saw an anthurium farm and vegetable gardens during their hike.
But the true reward is to see the incomparable sight at the peak—the Chocolate Hills-like mountains around and in the whole island of Cebu),” she wrote.
One of the photos showed her taking a selfie on top of the peak with the hills behind her.
Duterte also talked about how she bonded with her guide, Joy, with whom she joked about having a peak named for them—the “Sara Joy Peak—for those who want to hike “3 peaks in one day.”
She then highlighted the importance of supporting local tourism.
It’s important for us to continue supporting local tourism and its association to every barangay that we visit. Every step we take towards the peak is also a step to a more stable and prosperous community and country),” she said.
