Rescuers continue retrieval operation for 3-year-old boy who fell into drainage hole in Caloocan
Members of different Caloocan City government departments on Sunday, Oct. 15, continued their search and retrieval operation to find a three-year-old-boy who allegedly fell into a hole connected to a drainage in Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City on Saturday, Oct. 14.
The city government said a team composed of Caloocan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), City Engineering Department (CED), Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD), and City Environmental and Management Department (CEMD), responded to the area on Sunday to conduct drilling on the part of the road above the drainage connected to the hole where the boy reportedly fell.

The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) said that the victim and his siblings were walking on an alley in Phase 10, Barangay 176 at around 3 p.m. on Saturday, when he suddenly fell into hole and was swept away by the water current caused by heavy rains.

After receiving a report about the incident, Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan immediately ordered for an extensive search and rescue operation for the victim.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, the search an retrieval operation to recscue the victim started at around 7:59 p.m. on Saturday.
As of this writing, authorities have yet to locate the missing three-year-old boy.
Malapitan said they also coordinated with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to speed up the search for the missing child.
