The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Sunday, Oct. 15, said the Mayon Volcano Network had recorded increased seismicity in Mayon Volcano from one volcanic earthquake to 34 volcanic earthquakes.

Phivolcs said 30 of those volcanic earthquakes were tremor events with a duration of one to 32 minutes while there were also occurrences of one Pyroclastic Density Current (PDC) event and 105 rockfall events.
There was also lava flow at a length of approximately 3.4 kilometers along Bonga; 2.8 kilometers along Mi-isi; and 1.1 kilometers along Basud Gullies, said Phivolcs.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs said the sulfur dioxide (SO2) emission from Mayon increased from 797 tons per day to 1,018 tons per day.
Hazardous eruption in the following days or weeks could still be expected as Mayon Volcano is still under Alert Level 3 which means that it is "currently in a relatively high level of unrest," said Phivolcs.
Phivolcs still advised the public against danger from PDCs, lava flows, and rockfalls, among other volcanic hazards. (Lizst Torres Abello)
