Pasig LGU to deploy vehicles for commuters amid transport strike
The local government of Pasig will deploy vehicles to help commuters who will be affected by the scheduled transport strike on Monday, Oct. 16.
The Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) will deploy monitoring teams in different parts of Pasig to identify which areas will need the vehicles.
According to the advisory, Pasig to Quiapo is the only identified route that will be affected by the strike. UV Express and modern jeepneys can still accommodate passengers on the route.
Mayor Vico Sotto also said that classes will continue in the city since house-to-school routes will not be heavily affected.
However, he added that individual schools, whether public or private, can suspend classes if they see that their areas will be highly affected.
The Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) and Malayang Alyansa ng Bus Employees at Laborers (Manibela) will lead the strike starting Oct. 16 to protest the mandatory franchise consolidation of jeepneys.
