When we think of Parisian style, what usually comes to mind are classic pieces, sophisticated attitude, and understated elegance. And all of those could be seen in Michael Cinco’s spring-summer 2024 creations that paid homage to the city it was shown, Paris. The Dubai-based Filipino couturier went back to the City of Love just in time for its Fashion Week festivities.
Unveiled at the Westin Paris Vendome, Michael’s collection presented his more streamlined design approach but was still full of drama. Much like the charming city at night, the collection was a parade of black and blue with crystals glistening as they caught the light. It also featured pieces in pristine white through an array of tailored suit ensembles for men and women.
“These hues, meticulously selected and masterfully woven into the fabric, encapsulate the very essence of Parisian chic, providing a canvas for the awe-inspiring designs,” Michael told Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “The collection’s narrative is a heartfelt tribute to the timeless elegance that defines Parisian chic. Each piece draws inspiration from the unmatched sophistication of Paris, serving as a testament to the city’s enduring fashion legacy.”
What graced the runway were pieces with linear and geometric embellishments, midriff-baring dresses, denim-on-denim looks, and sharp yet easy coats. One of his favorite pieces was the look donned by Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Nola on the runway—an all-black ensemble composed of crystal-encrusted jacket and skirt.
“Through this collection, I aspire to introduce the Parisian audience to the remarkable craftsmanship of Filipino artisans and the intricate details of embroidery, elements that the Filipino fashion scene is renowned for.” the designer mused.
