Mayor Along vows to help family of 3-year-old boy who fell into drainage hole in Caloocan
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan has vowed to help the family of the three-year-old boy who died after he allegedly fell to a hole connected to a drainage in Barangay 176, Caloocan City on Saturday, Oct. 14.
The city government said on Sunday, Oct. 15, that the mayor pledged to provide aid to the family for the victim’s wake and burial.
Malapitan instructed concerned city departments to also determine the other needs of the families for possible assistance including counseling following the death the child.
According to the Caloocan City Polce Station, the incident happened at around 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The victim was walking along an alley in Phase 10, Bagong Silang, Barangay 176, while there was heavy downpour in the city, he suddenly fell to hole connected to a drainage in the area.
Different city government departments, the city police, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority personnel conducted a search and retrieval operation starting 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.
The victim’s body was found at Accohome Mountain Site, Barangay 176 at around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday.
His cause of death is still under investigation, the local government said.
