Las Piñas, Pasay LGUs suspend classes amid transport strike
The cities of Las Piñas and Pasay announced the suspension of classes for public and private schools on Monday, Oct. 16 due to the nationwide transport strike led by the Malayang Alyansa ng Bus Employees at Laborers (MANIBELA) against the public utility vehicle modernization program.
Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered the suspension of classes both in public and private schools.
However, government offices will remain open to continue serve the public.
Pasay City Administrator, Peter Manzano, on order of Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, issued a memorandum to school heads on the suspension of face-to-face classes both in public and private schools.
The memorandum issued is in anticipation of the lack of public transportation especially for students and school personnel.
The memorandum also noted that in order to avoid disruption in the academic calendar, public and private schools were encouraged to implement online/modular classes or alternative learning modality.
