'History can't be revised': Imee says gov't should clarify if Feb. 25 is a non-holiday
The government should clarify if the Edsa People Power Anniversary on February 25 of next year would be a holiday or non-holiday, Sen. Imelda “Imee” Marcos said on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Marcos made the call after her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Proclamation No. 368 last Friday.
Proclamation No. 368 enumerated next year’s official national holidays, non-working days, and special non-working days.
The senator, however, noted that February 25 falls on a Sunday, “so baka naman yung Lunes na susunod ay idedeklara pa ring holiday (So maybe the Monday, the next day, would be declared a holiday).”
“Hindi ko sigurado kung (I’m not sure if this is) absolute exclusion ‘yun o magkakaroon ng deklarasyon. Hindi ko nga naintindihan masyado ‘yung discussion pero sa palagay ko, kinikilala naman natin na talagang holiday ‘yun (or if there is going to be a declaration. I don’t understand the discussion that much, but I believe we are bound to recognize it really as a holiday),” Marcos said in an interview on Radio DZBB.
“Hindi tayo sigurado, so kaya gusto ko i-clarify nila (Malacañang) kung talagang hindi na siya nasa kalendaryo or nagkataon lamang na Linggo nga (We are not sure, so I want Malacañang to clarify if it is indeed no longer a holiday, or is it because it falls on a Sunday),” she added.
So far no Palace official has offered any explanation about the issue.
Asked if this is tantamount to historical revisionism, the lawmaker rejected it.
“Hindi naman mare-revise ‘yan. Ang liwa-liwanag naman ng kasaysayan (That could not be revised. Our history has been very, very clear),” the President’s sister reiterated.
It was on Feb. 25, 1986 when Filipinos took to the streets to protest the dictatorial rule of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Under P.D. 368, official holidays next year will include the Chinese New Year (February 10), Black Saturday (March 10), All Souls’ Day (November 2), Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary (December 8), Christmas Eve (December 24), and even the death anniversary of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aguino Jr. (August 21).
