Cedrick Manzano, Matthew Montebon connive to lift Adamson past UE

The Soaring Falcons came to their senses just in time after blowing a 15-point advantage and improved 3-2 in the standings.

Adamson fended off University of the East, 72-65, to bounce back in the first round of the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Soaring Falcons came to their senses just in time after blowing a 15-point advantage and improved 3-2 in the standings.

Ced Manzano and Matthew Montebon’s combined 26 points helped Adamson down the stretch, while Matt Erolon added 10 points of his own.

Though Rey Remogat had started to catch fire in the third period, Adamson managed to just stay ahead with a slim 53-50 lead.

Not forced into a deadlock of 63-all in the closing period, Adamson fired off an 8-0 counter which ended with a Montebon triple with 38 seconds to spare.

The last-minute charge was enough to tow the Soaring Falcons to the victory.

Remogat’s season-high 27-point, 11-rebound was completely spoiled as the Red Warriors absorbed their second straight loss for a 2-3 slate.
