A total of 82 buildings with 8,200 residential units will rise in Davao City as part of the government’s housing projects, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said on Sunday, Oct. 15.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said five of the buildings are already in the final phases of construction and are part of the 20 ongoing projects in various phases of development and construction.

The Davao City housing project is spearheaded by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) which Acuzar urged to allot more open spaces and parks for the dwellers, especially the children, to enjoy recreational activities.
The DHSUD is targeting to address the 6.5 million backlog in housing before the administration of President Marcos ends in 2028.
Acuzar earlier made several agreements with various government and private financing institutions and also secured the Congress support in providing additional subsidy for monthly amortization of informal settler families (ISFs) and low-income earners.
Several local government units have also provided parcels of land for the construction of housing projects in their respective areas.
