The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has unveiled its latest initiative with the launch of Data Enclave Centers (DECs) in 14 Regional Statistical Services Offices (RSSOs) across the country.
These newly established centers, in addition to the existing facility at the PSA Central Office and three regional offices, are set to enhance the dissemination and utilization of statistical data while fostering a more collaborative environment.
The primary objective behind the establishment of DECs in the Central Office and 17 regional offices is to make statistical data more accessible to researchers and stakeholders from all regions.
These centers provide authorized individuals with access to PSA data derived from establishment-based censuses and surveys.
However, access to the data is strictly governed by regulations and is limited to research and training purposes, as outlined in PSA Office Memorandum No. 2019-1241.
Furthermore, these centers serve as catalysts for research, collaboration, and innovation, creating an environment conducive to the advancement of statistical knowledge.
During the launch, PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, who serves as the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, emphasized the agency's commitment to meet the demands of the digital age and emerging technologies.
By empowering regional offices with IT-driven solutions, the Data Enclave Centers demonstrate the PSA's dedication to providing researchers and stakeholders with access to even sensitive data for statistical purposes.
The establishment of these DECs marks a significant milestone for the PSA in its mission to promote evidence-based decision-making and support research endeavors throughout the country.
With the introduction of these centers, the PSA aims to foster greater collaboration and knowledge sharing among data users, ushering in an era of data-driven progress and development.
