SARIAYA, Quezon – Nine students were injured when the tricycle they were riding in was hit by a refrigerated van on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Santo Cristo here before dawn on Friday, October 13.
Police identified the victims as Syra Mae, 13; Rhein Rose, 12; John Kenneth, 13; Khen Yhaell, 12; Kylee Ann, 14; Kimberly, 16; Sarah, 16; John Jeric, 16, and Joerin 13, residents of this town.
Investigation said the tricycle driven by Rene, 40, resident of Purok 2, Barangay Santo Cristo, was entering the Maharlika Highway on the way to Barangay Malabag Lutucan when it was accidentally rammed by a Mitsubishi Canter refrigerated van with license plates NFG-6949 on the way to Lucena City from Parañaque City.
Victims were taken to various hospitals by rescuers.
Van driver Jerome, 28, of Upper Bicutan, Taguig City, faces a complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
