CEBU CITY – Police arrested two barangay tanods (watchmen) after they were caught keeping unlicensed firearms in their homes in Barangay Lamesa, Balamban, Cebu.
Nabbed on Friday morning, October 13, were Rouel Dumdum Goc-ong, 48, and Mario Vasquez, 48.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Cebu City Field Unit and Balamban police seized a .45 caliber pistol from Goc-ong’s house.
Police obtained a search warrant after they received reports that Goc-ong indiscriminately fired a gun in a dumpsite that he was guarding.
Goc-ong was also allegedly involved in an incident where he challenged his neighbors to a gunfight.
Police recovered a .45 sub-machine pistol, a .38 revolver, and .45 pistol from the house of Vasquez.
Suspects face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The operations were part of the CIDG’s intensified campaign against loose firearms dubbed “Oplan: Paglalansag Omega.”
