BYD Atto 3 SUV to be launched in October

Debuting at the EV Summit

BYD Philippines plans to expand its lineup of fully-electric vehicles with yet another addition this month. AC Motors, distributors of BYD in the Philippines will be launching their five-seat, B-segment crossover SUV, the BYD Atto 3 at the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit on October 19th. 

BYD Philippines is encouraging the public to await the official launch for the final specifications and price. There are a few things we can expect, however. The Atto 3 is a front-wheel drive fully-electric vehicle. It produces 204-Ps and 310-Nm of torque. It can go on to a top speed of 160-kph. 

Powering it is one of the safest batteries in an EV, BYD’s Blade Battery. This is a slim 62kw/h battery pack which will grant the Atto 3 a theoretical driving range of 420-km on a full charge.

The battery can be charged with the standard onboard 7.4-kw charger or optional 11-kw AC charger plugged into a wall socket. When plugged to a socket, charging time may vary with phase and amperage of power supply from as little as 6.5-hours to as long as 31-hours. It is also compatible with fast-charging when connected to compatible DC-charging facilities. Those can charge it from 30% to a maximum of 80% in about 30 minutes.

Some of the amenities to expect are a digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system which can be rotated from portrait to landscape mode. Integrated into that is the high quality audio entertainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. There could also be onboard wireless charging and perhaps panoramic sunroof. 

The Atto 3 is intended to go up against similarly sized small EV SUVs like the coming MG ZS EV.

Toti Zara, President and CEO of BYD Philippines shared these with members of the Philippine motoring media during their test drive of some of BYD’s vehicles at the Zhuhai International Circuit in Guangdong. He also said to expect more models from BYD in the near future.
