After headlining the 1MX concert in Sydney last Oct. 8, Ben&Ben's percussionist, Toni Muñoz, recently gave a health update that her face was paralyzed days before arriving in Sydney.
In her Instagram post, Toni revealed that it took her some time to tell her health situation because she didn't have the courage to share it.
"Hello! I’ve been intending to share something with all of you pero ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng headspace at lakas ng loob para gawin. Meron akong life update: a few days before we flew to Sydney for Ben&Ben's 1MX show, I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. The left side of my face is paralyzed, so as some of you might have noticed (lalo na sa mga na-meet namin sa Sydney), I can only wear half a smile, and there's a bit of change in the way I speak," Toni wrote in her post.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Bell's Palsy is a "condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face," which can be caused by "swelling and inflammation of the nerve" that controls the muscle.
Toni added on her post that she was getting used to her condition but highlighted that she was grateful to be able to perform with her band during the concert.
"I am slowly getting used to this day by day, but I wouldn't be truthful if I said that it's easy. It's a roller coaster of an experience, physically, mentally, emotionally," she wrote. "But I am still very grateful to be surrounded by very loving people who have given me support and care these past few days," she added.
She also mentioned that disclosing her condition can be a way not to get people curious about her appearance and to help her accept that she will have to deal with her situation for now.
"Just putting this out here para lang hindi kayo magtaka or magulat when you see me, at para na rin sa akin, para mas lumakas ‘yung pagtanggap ko na ito ngayon ang aking realidad. Gagaling naman ako, kailangan lang maghintay,” Toni wrote.
(I'm just putting this out here so you won't be surprised when you see me, and for me as well, so I can further accept that this is my reality for now. I will recover; we just need to wait.)
At the end of Toni's post, she reminded her fans that despite the unexpected circumstances in life, there are still many reasons to be thankful.
"Sa ngayon, kahit kalahati lang ang aking mga ngiti, buo pa rin ‘yan galing sa aking puso.Kasali talaga sa buhay ang mga sorpresa. Kaya nga ito maganda. Marami pa ring dapat ipagpasalamat," she wrote.
(Right now, even if my smiles are only half, that's still full from my heart. Surprises are part of life. That's why it's beautiful. There is still much to be thankful for).
