Valenzuela City receives excellence award in newborn screening

The Valenzuela City local government has been recognized for its excellence in newborn screening by the Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) during the Newborn Screening Recognition and Awarding Ceremony held in Eastwood, Quezon City, on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

The city's dedication to newborn screening was  given the Exemplary Award which acknowledged its exceptional commitment and achievements in this vital area.

The recognition highlighted the city's unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of its residents.

In addition to the Exemplary Award, Valenzuela City was also presented with a Certificate of Recognition for its outstanding implementation of the newborn screening program.

The certificate underscored the city's thorough approach to healthcare and its unwavering commitment to maintain high standards in public health programs.

According to the Valenzuela City Public Information Office (PIO), the Newborn screening is an essential healthcare initiative designed to provide every newborn with the best possible start in life.

The systematic process involves testing infants for various potentially serious conditions shortly after birth, enabling early detection and intervention.

The city’s unwavering commitment to excellence in newborn screening demonstrates its proactive approach to safeguarding the health of its youngest residents.

Furthermore, by identifying and addressing potential health concerns early on, the city ensures that newborns have the opportunity for timely and effective medical care, setting the foundation for a healthier and brighter future.

The Polo and Paso de Blas Lying-In Clinics, which served as the important part of Valenzuela's healthcare system, were also honored with Exemplary Awards for their substantial contributions to newborn screening initiatives.

The city government stated that the awards not only acknowledged the past achievements but also served as an inspiration for their future endeavors.

With Valenzuela City's accomplishments, the focus has now shifted to future innovations in healthcare.

The awards signified the city's dedication to consistently push boundaries and venture into new frontiers to enhance the wellbeing of the community.
