Upholding a shared commitment to enhance healthcare provision in their respective communities, The Medical City (TMC) forges a partnership with IHH Healthcare Singapore (IHHSG), a private integrated healthcare provider in Singapore known globally for its cutting-edge facilities and medical expertise, to revolutionize medical education, training, and healthcare provision, ultimately leading to enhanced patient care.
On September 26, The Medical City inaugurated a cross-border collaboration with IHH Healthcare Singapore through the Mount Elizabeth Medical Affiliate Programme (MAP), intending to offer medical education and training to medical practitioners, specialists, nurses, and hospital administrators. This includes, but not limited to, facility redesign, equipment requirements, staffing needs, hospital risk management, clinical governance, and quality control, which will enhance patient care for both the hospitals’ stakeholders.
Sharing best practices with international institutions
With the ever-changing patient needs, hospitals around the world continuously learn how to keep pace through the use of technology and joint effort with other advanced institutions that share the same endeavor.
“I think when we talk about partnership and choosing partners, we choose the best. And we also choose the ones that we can learn from, more than just in healthcare. We just exchange what we have,” said Dr. Eugenio Ramos, President and Group CEO of the Medical City, during the signing of Memorandum of Agreement, highlighting the importance of collaboration with hospitals with proven excellence.
Both institutions will be bringing together their resources, knowledge, and technology to elevate the quality of patient-care provision.
“As we go through this process of providing service to patients from foreign lands, we should play a more active role in supporting healthcare systems around the region that have trusted us. We came up with the Medical Affiliate Partnership Program because from our point of view, helping local partners, learning from partners, is ultimately a good thing for patients.” Jeffrey Law, Chief Commercial Officer of IHH Healthcare Singapore, emphasized.
“We are really looking forward to partnering with the local health system and look at the possibility of managing the patients in a collaborative way, complimenting each other's strength, and giving the patients the best option and the best healthcare possible,” he added.
Transforming healthcare landscape
Through MAP, the institutions will be conducting joint courses, seminars, master classes, and conferences under the program. There will also be study visits and exchange programs for both medical staff and administrators for them to gain valuable insights into the best practices and technologies that drive healthcare excellence in Singapore and the Philippines. These are aimed at enhancing the medical knowledge and skill sets of staff.
“The aspects of our patient referral system underscores our dedication to seamless and comprehensive healthcare delivery among our customers. This network of trust and collaboration ensures that our patients receive the best possible care tailored to their unique needs even beyond the confines of our own facilities,” Vice President and Enterprise Head of the Managed Care Department of The Medical City, Lawrence Sibayan, expressed.
The MOA signing activity was also joined by Vincent Lai, Country Manager of IHH Healthcare Singapore, and Edwon Ronald Salonga, Director of IHH Healthcare Philippines.
At the core of this alliance lies a shared vision for the future of healthcare—a future where the highest standards of medical care are accessible to all, regardless of their geographic location or economic status.
