Rains to affect parts of PH due to LPA trough, northeasterly surface wind flow
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Oct. 12 said rains may prevail over parts of the country due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) and northeasterly surface wind flow.

PAGASA last spotted the LPA 300 kilometers east of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, and may exit the country’s area of responsibility in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Its trough or extension may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan.
PAGASA warned of flash floods and landslides in these areas during moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the other LPA being monitored by PAGASa east of Visayas has dissipated.
Furthermore, PAGASA said the northeasterly surface wind flow or the initial blast of cold winds may bring light rains to Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, and Abra.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. (Lizst Torres Abello)
