The illegal drugs composed of 47 kilos of shabu worth P325 million, two kilos of marijuana, and 5.21 grams of cocaine were destroyed through the thermal incinerator of the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes.

PDEA-7 Director Jigger Montallana said it was the second destruction of seized illegal drugs this year.

Overall, the PDEA-7 has conducted 12 destruction of illegal drugs but the latest was the biggest in terms of the amount of illegal drugs, Montallana said.

The bulk of the illegal drugs that were destroyed Thursday came from the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7).

“The bulk of the shabu that was destroyed came from the police, more or less 32 kilos. The rest came from the PDEA-7,” said Montallana.

Montallana assured that the campaign against illegal drugs in Central Visayas has been unrelenting.

Police Col.  Noel Flores, deputy regional director for operations of PRO-7,  said there are 100 kilos of shabu that are in the custody of the Philippine National Police Forensics Unit.

Flores said court orders are expected to be issued soon for the destruction of 50 kilos of shabu that are in custody of the police.

He said that destroying seized illegal drugs shows that these contrabands are not being recycled.
