K-pop idol and actor Hwang Min-hyun, who recently starred in the drama “My Lovely Liar,” spent an amazing night over music and conversation with Filipino fans in Manila.
The former member of boy bands NU’EST and Wanna One, who is now pursuing a solo career, held his “2023 Hwang Min-hyun Mini Concert ‘Unveil’ in Manila” on Oct. 8 at the New Frontier Theater.

“It’s been a while since I visited Manila,” said Hwang Min-hyun at a press conference for his show on Oct. 7 at Novotel Manila Araneta City.
Opening with “Hidden Side,” he performed a variety of songs including “Honest,” “Earphone,” “So Beautiful,” “Tree,” “Perfect Type,” “Cube,” “Universe,” “Crossword,” and “Smile.”
“Na-miss ko kayong lahat (I missed all of you). I’m really, really happy to be back here in Manila,” he said.
Hwang Min-hyun told fans that he recently finished the drama “My Lovely Liar,” which he co-starred with actress Kim So-hyun.
The mini-concert had several segments including the “Timing Game,” which showed scenes from his dramas and music videos. As a penalty, Hwang Min-hyun wore different cute headbands and posed for the fans. He also danced to NewJeans’ “Super Shy.”
In “Hwang Min-hyun’s Music Album Season 2” segment, he assumed the role of a DJ and read letters by fans.
Hwang Min-hyun sang “Back in Time,” the original soundtrack by Lyn for the 2012 hit drama “Moon Embracing the Sun” starring Kim Soo-hyun and Han Ga-in, and was also recorded by singer K.Will for a webtoon that was released in 2021. He also performed “The Snowman,” “Crazy” and “White Night.”
“Thank you so much for your unwavering support. It hasn’t been long since I had my first concert in Seoul last August. And now here we are in October here in Manila,” he said.
He added, “This summer was a big opportunity that was given to me through this concert tour where I was able to meet my Hwangdos in different cities across Asia. Thank you so much for giving me a lot of memories.”
“Now as I go back to Korea, I have to go back to film my drama series. I will really to my best because I will always remember Hwangdos when it comes out. Thank you so much my Hwangdo for being here tonight. Mahal na mahal kayo (I love you so much),” said Hwang Min-hyun.

During his press conference, Hwang Min-hyun answered questions about his career and personal life.
About his music, he said, “I have a lot of music. I wanna do my music for a long time. I still have many things that I wish to unveil for you guys. Please look forward to what I have to prepare in the future.”

Regarding roles in dramas, Hwang Min-hyun said, “I don’t have any particular role. But when someone gives me a new character, I love the process of how I study a lot and get myself involved in it.”
He recalled filming for “My Lovely Liar” and said one of the most memorable scenes in the drama was the camping scene.
“The whole filming itself was a lot of fun but there was one particular scene wherein we were in a camping scene. The director did not specifically say what we had to do. He just told us to feel at home and very relaxed as in you were really on a camping trip with your girlfriend. He basically roasted the meat. But there were pieces of the barbecue that dropped in the charcoal. I thought the director would not use that scene but used it to show a very natural scene,” he said.
On his dream destination, he said, I really, really love traveling and there are a lot of countries that I have not visited. But in the future when I have time, what I want to do is put my backpack and do a world tour.”
In the Philippines, he wants to have a vacation in Boracay.
“I really love nature and, of course, the Philippines is rich with nature. I really heard that Boracay is a wonderful place and it is famous with the sunset. So I’m looking forward to going to Boracay to capture the sunset, which I can share with my Hwangdo [fans],” said Hwang Min-hyun.
He also revealed that he “would like to study more photography.”

About the difference between his preparations for activities as a singer and actor, he said, “As a singer preparing for my stage, it takes months and months of preparation, a lot of external help from the music video director and staff.”
“As an actor, I have to go myself ahead prepared. When it comes to the filming site, we all come prepared and the synergy comes out,” he added.
