BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.3 earthquake rocked Davao Occidental before dawn on Thursday, October 12.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was registered at 2:12 a.m. and its epicenter was 151 kilometers (kms) southeast of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The tectonic tremor, caused by the movement of an active fault in the area, had a depth of 65 kms, Phivolcs said.
No damage or injuries are anticipated from the earthquake.
The Office of Civil Defense in Southern Mindanao and Davao Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported no damage or injury.
On Tuesday morning, October 10, a magnitude-4.8 earthquake also rattled Balut Island.
No damage or injuries were reported from this tremor.
