Kelce questionable for Chiefs' NFL clash with Broncos

MIAMI (AFP) -- Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce is listed as questionable for the Super Bowl champions' clash with the Denver Broncos on Thursday, Oct. 12.

Kelce suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of Sunday's NFL victory over the Minnesota Vikings but returned to the field, with his ankle strapped, to catch a third-quarter touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes.

The team injury report listed Kelce as questionable after he missed practice on Monday and was limited on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Kelce leads the Chiefs with 27 receptions, 222 receiving yards and three touchdown catches despite missing the opening game with a knee bruise -- his first injury absence since his 2013 rookie season.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had expressed some optimism about Kelce's chances of playing after practice on Tuesday.

"He has done well. He has got quite a little bit of treatment on it, so he's feeling a little bit better, which is good," Reid said.

"I'm going to just see how he moves around, how he feels. He's always been honest with me on things like that, so we'll just see how he does."

Kelce has been in the headlines recently due to his friendship with pop singer Taylor Swift.

The star attended two Chiefs games, at home against the Chicago Bears and at the New York Jets, prompting a wave of media coverage.

Kelce has won two Super Bowls and has been talked about as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history.

The Chiefs also listed defensive end George Karlaftis (hamstring) and punter Tommy Townsend (left knee) as questionable for Thursday's game.
