The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on Thursday, Oct. 12 said its OneExpert portal has been affected by a data leak incident.

DOST said the Philippine National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-PH) reported a potential breach on Aug. 31 where a compromised account could be used to access data from the OneExpert website.
DOST discovered data containing personal information of technical experts and users, similar to those from the site, which was publicly posted on Facebook on Oct. 8.
The department said that they are committed to securing and protecting personal information and data with utmost seriousness.
“While this incident may cause concern among the affected individuals and the public, we would like to assure everyone that no sensitive personal information has been compromised,” DOST said.
“We are continuously implementing measures to strengthen the security of our information systems in the course of delivering science and technology services to the public,” it added. (Erika Mariel Custodio Escover)
