Acorda lauds police trainee who rescued drowning girl in Rizal

Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), lauded a police trainee who rescued a drowning girl in a river in Taytay, Rizal on Oct. 6, a video of it went viral when it was uploaded on social media.
Acorda identified him as August David, a police trainee of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
“David's unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of our fellow citizens is an example of the values that the PNP upholds. His immediate and fearless response to a life-threatening situation is a testament to his vow to serve and protect, even at the risk of his own life,” said Acorda.
“We salute Police Trainee August David for his exceptional bravery and boldness in the face of danger. His actions represent the very essence of selfless service and sacrifice, qualities that are integral to the mission of the PNP,” he added.
In the video, David was seen jumping from a bridge in Taytay town to rescue the drowning girl and later helped her board a banca.
David was lauded by the netizens for his heroic act, with some netizens saying that his courage and selflessness should be emulated by all policemen.
"It is with great pride that the PNP has a dedicated public servant like PT David, who is willing to sacrifice for the safety and protection of our fellow countrymen. He is truly worthy of praise and serves as an epitome of selflessness and unwavering commitment to duty,” said Acorda.
“The PNP extends its heartfelt gratitude to Police Trainee August David for embodying the highest ideals of the police force and for his remarkable and selfless act of heroism. His actions reflect the values and dedication that the PNP strives to instill in all its members,” he added.
