Wanted former NPA rebel nabbed for homicide

BACOLOD CITY – A former member of the New People’s Army (NPA) wanted for homicide surrendered to the police in Barangay San Jose, Toboso, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, October 10.

Police identified the suspect as Benny Alibutdan, 44, of Barangay San Jose.

Police Lt. Col. Edison Garcia, commander of the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (Nocpmfc), said that Alibutdan gave himself up to them and was served the arrest warrant issued by a court in Silay City in 2022.

The court recommended a bail of P120,000 for his provisional liberty.

Garcia said the suspect was a former member of Northern Negros Front (NNF) who has been inactive for several months.

The suspect was turned over to the Silay City Police Station and currently in the process of posting bail, Garcia said.
