Rain showers, thunderstorms to persist due to trough of LPA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Oct. 11 said the trough or extension of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Visayas may continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over most of the country.

PAGASA located the LPA 840 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas as of 4 p.m.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in Quezon, Bicol Region, Mimaropa (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga due to the trough of the LPA.
PAGASA warned against flash floods and landslides in high-risk area due to moderate to heavy rains.
Weather specialist Benison Estareja said the LPA may move away from the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) within the next 24 hours.
He said the LPA may become an extension of the super typhoon outside the PAR with an international name “Bolaven.”
However, Bolaven, which was last spotted 2,280 kilometers east of Northern Luzon is not expected to enter the PAR or have a direct effect on any part of the country in the coming days. (Lizst Torres Abello)
