President Marcos has declared Oct. 10 to 16 of every year as "Linggo ng Lupong Tagapamayapa" as he recognized the need to increase public awareness on the role of barangay officials in the community.

Marcos made the declaration through Proclamation No. 358 signed by Executive Lucas Bersamin on Oct. 9.
“There is a need to increase public awareness on the functions of the Lupong Tagapamayapa, and recognize the valuable contributions of the members thereof in the preservation and maintenance of peace and order in barangays,” Marcos said in the two-page proclamation.
Under the proclamation, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is directed to take the lead in promoting the observance of the Linggo ng Lupong Tagapamayapa and identify events, projects, and activities that will mark the yearly celebration.
“All other agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations, government financial institutions, and state universities and colleges, are hereby enjoined, and all local government units, non-government organizations, as well as the private sector, are hereby encouraged, to actively participate and render the necessary support and assistance to the DILG for the effective implementation of this Proclamation,” it added.
A Lupong Tagapamayapa is a body that exercises administrative supervision on matters relevant to the amicable settlement of barangay disputes.
The body, organized in every barangay, is composed of the punong barangay as Chairperson and not less than 10 or more than 20 members.
