A brief ceremony was held at the People’s Hall on the eighth floor of the city hall on Monday, Oct. 9.

Led by the Pasig City Anti-Drug Abuse Office (PCADAO), the local government awarded the police personnel in recognition of their efforts and accomplishments in conducting anti-illegal drugs operations.

The officials conferred certificates of recognition and undisclosed amounts of cash incentives to more than 30 Pasig police personnel and informants.

Gracing the brief ceremony were Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Robert “Dodot” Jaworski Jr., Councilor Mark Gil Delos Santos, Eastern Police District (EPD) director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta, Pasig Police chief Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., and PCADAO head Zenaida O. Concepcion.

The main objective of the anti-drug campaign is to ensure a “drug and crime-free Pasig City.”

“We are proud of the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Pasig Central Police Station. [It] has consistently been recognized as one of the best performing in the anti-illegal drugs campaign,” said Sotto.

“Bagama't national government agencies (kagaya ng PNP at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency [PDEA]) ang may pangunahing responsibilidad dito, sinusuportahan din sila ng LGU sa abot ng ating makakaya (Even if national government agencies have the primary responsibility for this, the local government still supports it to the best of our ability),” he added.

The mayor emphasized the city government’s demand-side reduction programs that focus on recovery and reintegration initiatives for persons who use drugs (PWUDs), as well as health-based programs like the mobile drug testing projects for all residents.

The PCADAO also conducts drug clearing and drug advocacy seminars for barangays and city hall employees to raise awareness, promote, and continue to train local government personnel to maintain “drug free workplaces.”
