Here's where you can get Bretman Rock's hoodie barong
It is both traditional and contemporary
By John Legaspi
Apart from his hilarious content and sickening beauty looks, Bretman Rock is loved by many for his unapologetic take on fashion. His style is where tradition meets contemporary, where gender lines are blurred, and one of his many ways of championing Filipino culture. Just in time for Filipino American History Month in the US, the social media personality donned a very Filipino look with a modern twist.

In his recent Instagram Story, Bretman showcased a barong hoodie, crafted by noted Filipino designer Happy Andrada. It seemed like the “You're That B*tch” author got it from his last trip to the country when he visited Artefino Festival 2023. And if you want to copy the look, a similar piece can be found on the designer’s e-commerce site.
Much like what Bretman is wearing, Happy’s Mateo barong hoodie jacket is a modern take on the Filipino menswear piece. This elevated barong, featuring the pina textile and embroidery of artisans based in Lumban and Quezon, can be worn for a formal occasion or an everyday event.
Recently, Happy launched a collection that mirrors the vibe of the baring hoodies. She reimagined the beauty of piña and inabel fabrics for a dreamy contemporary collection. The 10-piece collection was all about “a fusion of timeless Filipiniana heritage and contemporary allure, breathing new life into traditional elements.”
