DMW: Efforts underway to transport remains of 2 Pinoys killed in Israel back to PH
Migrant Workers and Foreign Affairs officials are now working with their counterparts in Israel for the transportation of the bodies of two Filipinos who were killed when Hamas gunmen stormed the southern part of the Jewish state on Saturday, Oct. 7, back in the Philippines.
In a statement, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has also committed assistance to the families of the two slain Filipinos, a 33-year old woman and a 42-year old man.
“We expressed our sincerest condolences to the families of our two Filipinos who were reported to have died as a result of the conflict in Israel and Gaza,” the statement read.
“We are now working with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), our embassies in Tel-Aviv, Israel and Amman, Jordan, along with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for the return of the remains of our two kababayan,” it added.
DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo earlier confirmed the death of the two Filipinos in X, formerly Twitter.
“The Philippines condemns the killing of two Filipino nationals and all other acts of terrorism and violence as a result of Hamas actions against Israel,” said Manalo.
The DMW earlier said it is continuously checking on the condition of all the 30,500 Filipinos in Israel.
