If there are two things people should never miss when visiting a different place or country, it’s the food and the nightlife. For travelers with a taste for quality beverages, exploring the world’s top bars and learning of various drinking cultures can be a highly enriching, and perhaps even life-changing, experience. Some of the most interesting and wildest escapades come over drinks. Adventurous gourmands would go out of their way to obscure places just to enjoy unique and unforgettable drinks to their hearts’ content. Bars are, after all, cultural hubs too.

Whether it’s the Mariang Bastos, a masterful concoction of Don Papa, Cointreau, citrus, island butter, and cinnamon, from the swanky Bank Bar in the Philippines, or the Fleming, a communal milk punch ensemble that features bourbon, Oloroso sherry, tahini, sweet potato, and smoked milk, from Paradiso in Barcelona, there’s a drink for the venturesome tourist wherever he goes.

Just a week before the final announcement of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023, the extended 51-100 list has been unveiled for the seventh consecutive year. This annual catalog, sponsored by the French brand Perrier, presents a definitive ranking of drinking establishments deemed to be among the finest globally, from 32 different cities. It is determined by a voting panel that consists of 680 independent beverage experts, from renowned bartenders to educators and consultants to drink writers and cocktail specialists.

The UK, meanwhile, takes the lead in Europe with five bars out of a total of 17 across Europe. Achieving its first-ever entry with Nouvelle Vague from Tirana is Albania.

The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023 marks a historic departure from Europe as it shifts its prestigious awards event to Singapore for the first time. In its 15th annual edition, the move underscores the awards’ commitment to spotlighting the most significant cocktail cities internationally. The extended 51-100 list is meant to showcase an even broader selection of exceptional bars and destinations globally.
