795 micro rice retailers get cash aid from Manila LGU, DSWD, DTI
A total of 795 sari-sari store rice retailers received cash assistance from the city government of Manila, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), at the Patricia Sports Complex in Tondo, Manila, on Wednesday morning, Oct. 11.

Manila Vice-Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto witnesses the distribution of cash aid to micro rice retailers
The beneficiaries from Districts 1 and 2 were the first to receive the cash aid, while those from Districts 3 to 6 will receive theirs in the next few days.
According to DSWD and DTI, the beneficiaries should have business permits or clarification that they are rice vendors selling regular and well-milled rice.
Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin Yul Servo-Nieto said that the beneficiaries will each receive P15,000 cash assistance.
"Programang ito para sa ating mga retailers, sari-sari store owners natin na dumadaan sa konting pagsubok sa kanilang negosyo (This program is for our rice retailers, our store owners who are going through difficult times)," Servo-Nieto said.
"Ang lokal na pamahalaan naman, sa pangunguna ni Mayor Honey Lacuna, ay gumagawa ng paraan kung paano pa sila matutulungan (the local government, led by Mayor Honey Lacuna, is always working on how to help them more)," he added.
Nieto said that around 1,900 beneficiaries are targeted for this program from Manila's Districts 1 to 6.
The next cash aid distribution will be held on Oct. 12 at the Dapitan Sports Complex in Sampaloc, Manila, for the beneficiaries from Districts 3, 4, and 6.
The distribution for beneficiaries from District 5 will be on Oct. 13 at the San Andres Complex in Malate, Manila.
The cash aid is in line with the directive of President Marcos to provide assistance to the affected small rice retailers through the implementation of the temporary price ceiling on rice, through Executive Order No. 39, which took effect Sept. 5 and was subsequently lifted on Oct. 4.
