BACOLOD CITY – A woman and her brother-in-law were arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation in Purok Nasuok, Sitio Cubay, Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Monday, October 9.
Police identified the suspects as Michelle Oftana, 24, of Barangay 4, Silay, and her brother-in-law Joshua Junsay, 21, of Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay.

Police Major Rhea Sarah Villanueva, officer-in-charge of the Silay police station, said that Oftana is the live-in partner of 24-year-old Joseph Garrucho who was arrested with two others on October 5 after they allegedly robbed a gasoline station in Barangay Guinhalaran.
A firearm was recovered from Garrucho and companion as well as suspected shabu worth P81,600.
Oftana and Junsay yielded 14 grams of suspected shabu worth P95,200. She is a street-level individual while her brother-in-law is a newly identified individual.
Villanueva said they received information about the suspects’ involvement in the illegal drugs trade, prompting them to monitor and launch the operation.
