Ranking solon lauds PH gov't response to Israel-Hamas war

The House Committee on Foreign Affairs chairperson has credited the national government for quickly responding to the needs of Filipinos caught in the conflict between Israeli forces and Hamas rebel fighters.
"I would like to laud the quick response of our government who has already formed a task force that will monitor the situation in Israel and help Filipinos affected by the ongoing conflict," Pangasinan 3rd district Rep. Maria Rachel Arenas said in a statement Tuesday, Oct. 10.
"The task force is composed of personnel from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and is instructed to closely coordinate with the Philippine Embassies in Tel Aviv, Amman, and Cairo to make it easier to locate and account for all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank," she noted
In the same statement, Arenas express her "most heartfelt sympathies and condolences" to the victims of the ongoing attacks in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank.
"I strongly condemn the violent aggression and urge its complete cessation, to avoid needless pain and suffering, especially among the non-combatant civilian population," Arenas said.
The lady solon asked Filipinos in the conflict-ridden areas "to remain vigilant".
"We pray for your protection and well-being during these turbulent times...Again, I call for the immediate stop to the violence and pray for the peaceful resolution of the conflict," she said.
Gaza Strip and the West Bank comprise the State of Palestine. Last Saturday. Hamas rebels from Gaza launched a rocket attack against Israel on Saturday.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) earlier stated that it is "closely monitoring" the situation of 24,807 Filipinos in Israel.
