According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “vaccination is the most effective way to prevent infection and severe outcomes caused by influenza viruses.”

Flu vaccines can also help prevent or reduce the severity of flu-related illnesses and hospitalizations, especially for children, as per the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Marikina government cites better overall health and protection from sickness such as fever and colds as benefits of the anti-flu vaccine.

Majority of the beneficiaries of the vaccination drive in Barangay Sto. Nino were senior citizens who wanted to avail of the free vaccine. Barangay residents who are 18 years old and above also participated in the event.

Along with Teodoro, his wife District 1 Representative Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro and Vice Mayor Marion Andres also graced the vaccination drive.

According to the Marikina City Public Information Office (PIO),  some government officials will be roaming around the city to give their respective vaccination schedules. It is urging residents to get vaccinated on their designated schedules.

If residents missed their assigned schedules, they can contact their barangay health centers to get vaccinated as long as vaccine supplies last.
