Police withheld the name of the victim, a resident of Barangay 8, Victorias City.
Police Major Joy Ellaga, Victorias City Police Station deputy chief, said the victim and five other persons were riding a tricycle when two unidentified men stopped them.
The gunmen ordered the victim to disembark from the tricycle and instructed her co-passengers and the tricycle driver to turn their backs from her.
Ellaga said the suspects carted away the victim’s bag and shot her in the head at close range.
After hearing a gunshot, the tricycle driver and his passengers ran to hide while the suspects fled on board a motorcycle.
The victim, who was on her way home from the city proper when the incident happened, died on the spot.
Police recovered a fired .45 caliber bullet from the crime scene.
Ellaga said the suspects may have monitored the victim.
Police could not tell if there was cash inside the victim’s bag since she had distributed the salaries of farm workers a day prior to the incident, Ellaga said.
Aside from robbery, Ellaga said they are also exploring other possible angles such as work-related or something personal.
