Drunk man hacked dead in Sagay City

BACOLOD CITY – A man was hacked to death after he allegedly went berserk in Purok Crisjun, Barangay Rafaela Barrera, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, October 8.

Police withheld the name of the 44-year-old victim.

Investigation said the victim was reportedly drunk and entered a property and started smashing the window of the 54-year-old suspect whose name was also withheld by the police.

This prompted the suspect to grab a bolo and allegedly hack the victim, according to the police.

The victim was taken to Alfredo Marañon District Memorial Hospital in Sagay City where he was declared dead.

Police arrested the suspect recovered the murder weapon.

Meanwhile, the body of a 61-year-old man  with a bullet  wound in the left ear was found in Purok Mahogany, Barangay Bagong Silang, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental on Friday, October 7.

Police said the victim was on his way home when he was shot by an unidentified person.

Lawmen have yet to establish the motive of the shooting.
