ILOILO CITY – Police have arrested 92 violators of the gun ban in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in Western Visayas from August 28 to October 10.
The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said 87 of them were civilians.

Police Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said three violators were security guards and most of those arrested were in checkpoints across the region.
Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director, reminded civilian gun owners that the permit-to-carry firearms have been suspended by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office apprehended 26 gun ban violators, Iloilo Police Provincial Office, 18; Iloilo City Police Office, 14; Aklan Police Provincial Office, 10; Bacolod City Police Office, 10; Capiz Police Provincial Office, eight; Guimaras Police Provincial Office, four, and Antique Police Provincial Office and Regional Mobile Force Battalion-6, one each.
