Gilas Pilipinas has always been pushed to the edge with a constrained time to prepare for every tournament it is set to join.

Conflict of schedule is always an issue for the Nationals which comes as a pressing matter in recruiting players who could join the training pool.
That's why PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas had an idea of staging a basketball summit to gather all the stakeholders and make the necessary strategies in addressing challenges.
“Magtawag nalang ng basketball summit, diba? Nandon ang PBA, nandon UAAP, ang NCAA, so every stakeholder is there then we decide,” Vargas said in a press briefing held at the PBA Office on Monday, Oct. 9, in Libis, Quezon City.
He stated that they need to work with the league’s calendar so the conflict will be lessened for Gilas cagers.
“The first thing we have to decide is to align our calendars to be able to make the players available, yun yung importante eh available to practice, available to represent the country,” he added.
