Gilas Pilipinas team manager Alfrancis Chua assured the national players that they will get a 10-day break before they suit up for their respective ball clubs in the 48th season of the PBA.

According to Chua, he is in talks with the mother teams of the Gilas players as he wishes to give them a well-deserved rest after a tough grind in the Asian Games.
“Hintayin muna natin. Remember, karamihan sa team na ‘yun played in World Cup so walang pahinga,” the San Miguel Corp. sports director said.
“I told [to] the players, ako na mismo ang kakausap sa mother teams niyo na makakuha kayo ng sampung araw na bakasyon,” Chua stressed.
The Nationals are composed of 11 PBA cagers, including Ginebra’s Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar and Justin Brownlee, Meralco’s Chris Newsome, San Miguel’s CJ Perez, Marcio Lassiter, Chris Ross and June Mar Fajardo, North Port’s Arvin Tolentino, NLEX’s Kevin Alas, and TNT’s Calvin Oftana.
“Kunwari si Newsome, [sa] Meralco, I'll talk to Meralco. Let’s give them a break. Lahat magpapahinga. Pati si Tim, gusto niya magpahinga,” he added.
Naturalized player Ange Kouame is the lone dribbler playing overseas, as he recently signed a deal with UB Chartres Metropole in France pro basketball league Nationale Masculine 1.
Chua hopes that his request will be granted as the PBA will open on Nov. 5.
