
Seven people were injured after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driver allegedly fell asleep while driving, hitting pedestrians and motorcycles along Moriones Street in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday morning, Oct. 10.
The SUV also hit a parked delivery van along the eastbound lane of Moriones Street near the corner of Abad Santos Street in Tondo around 6:30 a.m.
The Manila Police District-Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPD-MDTEU) identified one of the motorcycle riders as Robert Grafilo.
Authorities have yet to verify the names of the other motorcycle rider and five injured pedestrians.
Peter Gerald Carolino, the SUV driver, said that he lost control of his vehicle as he fell asleep while driving.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) immediately provided first aid to the victims and brought them to the Tondo Medical Hospital for medical treatment.
The suspect will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
