“It’s been more than one month since the gun ban has been implemented, but there are still violators. Hopefully, people will follow the Comelec gun ban until the end of the BSKE,” said Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director.
Three gun ban violators were arrested on Saturday, September 30 – one each in Bacolod City, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, and Batan, Aklan.
More than 50 guns and 200 bullets have been confiscated and 11,100 checkpoints conducted in the region comprised of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod since the gun ban took effect.
Police Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the gun ban also prohibits bladed weapons and gun replicas.
