Romualdez sends condolences after death in Duterte family

House Speaker Martin Romualdez condoled with the Duterte family on Sunday, Oct. 1 following the passing of Jocelyn Duterte-Villarica. 

Duterte-Villarica is the younger sister of former president Rodrigo Duterte. 

"We deeply share their grief over their loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time,” Romualdez said in a short statement. 

“Our Lord has a way of healing one’s pain. May He comfort them and their loved ones,” added the leader of the 311-member House of Representatives. 

Ex-president Duterte served in Malacañang from 2016 to 2022 and is the direct predecessor of President Marcos.
