Marcos, VP Duterte give one-night Palace concert for teachers

President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte led the “Konsyerto sa Palasyo Para sa Mahal Nating Guro” held at the Malacañan Palace grounds on Sunday, Oct. 1.

The concert, which was requested by Duterte, who is also the Education chief in a concurrent capacity, was dedicated to Filipino teachers in line with the administration’s efforts to remember and join them in celebrating the National Teachers’ Month.

Several key government officials, including Senator Imee Marcos, were also present during the concert.

Multi-awarded theater actors Gerald Santos, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, and Ima Castro graced the concert, while rap trio MC Leandro of General Trias, Cavite; B.O.N, or the “Bars Overcoming Negativity” of Tanza, Cavite; Delicano Uno of Sta. Cruz, Manila and powerhouse vocalists Alex Dagaleam Rommel Arellano, Bea Sacramento, and Luke Dela Cruz lend their voices.

The Central Mindanao University (CMU) Music Society and Douglas Nierras Powerdance also showed their gratitude to teachers through their performances, while the Philippine DanceSport Federation (PDSF) Breaking National Ranking 2023 winners battled it out on stage as DJ Negative gave the beat.

The featured artists offered their performances to all teachers, who are at the forefront of nurturing the youth for the “Bagong Pilipinas” envisioned by the Marcos administration.

This was the third installment of the Konsyerto sa Palasyo, which aims to feature young and popular artists from all over the country.

The first and second concerts were also held for medical workers and athletes in April and August, respectively.

During the concert, inspiring stories about dedicated and passionate teachers were shown to the audience.

These teachers went the extra mile to shape the futures of their students amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The concert was also held to pay tribute to educator and revolutionary leader Apolinario Mabini, for which the Mabini Hall, where the concert happened, was named after.

The event was spearheaded by the Office of the President (OP), Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Social Secretary’s Office (SOSEC), and the Presidential Broadcast Staff – Radio Television Malacañang (PBS-RTVM).
